The School Food Tour has been busy! Here’s what’s new:

“Join us to celebrate local, fresh food during Keweenaw Food Day on October 24!”

Events include:

Oct 24, 11a-2p: Street-side cooking demo at Houghton City Center. Taste tests & recipes!
Oct 24, 3p-9p: Eat Real Educational Market & Film Screening
Oct 22-16: Farm to School week in Houghton & Hancock Elementary Schools
Oct 26: The Harvest Feast – A farm to table dinner & food drive.

These events are sponsored by the Western Upper Peninsula Health Department, Portage Health, The Keweenaw Co-op and the Portage Lake District Library.

Introducing CATCH UP – a comprehensive school health wellness initiative in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. I’ll be managing this program for the next 3 years along with School Food Tour duties. Go be it!

There are lots of exciting Food Day events happening during the week of Oct 22 in Houghton, MI!

Oct 24, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.: Street-side cooking demo and taste tests with Portage Health’s Executive Chef Mark Pitillo
Oct 24, 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.: Farm expo and film showing ‘Dirty Work’ at the Portage Lake District Library
Oct 26, 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.: Harvest Feast – Locally sourced dinner and food drive for the Western UP Food Drive
